On March 5th, 2009 the Webster Police Department received re-accreditation status from the New York State Law Enforcement Accreditation Council at a ceremony held at the State Office Building in Albany.  The award recognized the Webster Police Department as meeting all established criteria set forth by the council and having continued to maintain the standards since initial accreditation in 1999.

As the Chief of the Webster Police Department, I am proud to receive the acknowledgement from the N.Y.S. Law Enforcement Accreditation Council.  It is gratifying to know the Webster Police Department has met the high benchmark set by this board of our peers.

A Police Chief works hard to provide the best administrative and operational guidelines for his officers.  We strive to supply our officers with the best tools and equipment to perform their difficult job in providing the best possible service to the community.

1. To increase the effectiveness and efficiency of law enforcement agencies utilizing existing personnel, equipment and facilities to the extent possible;
2. To promote increased cooperation and coordination among law enforcement agencies and other agencies of the criminal justice services;
3. To ensure the appropriate training of law enforcement personnel; and
4. To promote public confidence

 Our police officers work hard to remain knowledgeable of the many different, rules, regulations, laws and best practices by which to perform their duty in a professional manner. They take pride in their appearance; their department and the community they chose to serve.

 Accreditation provides a law enforcement agency with a proven management system of written directives, sound training, clearly-defined lines of authority, and routine reports that support decision-making and resource allocation. This program provides objective evidence of our commitment to excellence in leadership, resource management and service delivery.

Accreditation is a coveted award that symbolizes professionalism, excellence and competence. It protects employees by ensuring an agency provide the appropriate work environment with policies and practices; facilities and equipment to ensure employees' safety in addition to safeguarding employees' rights. 

 Our employees take pride in their police department, knowing it represents the very best in law enforcement in New York State.  We are pleased to achieve this milestone and hope that more agencies in our State work to achieve this important distinction.

Our governing Town Board and the public we serve can take pride in knowing they are receiving the very best in law enforcement services from the Webster Police Department.
