Making a Difference Award"

The Making a Difference award, a collaborative effort by the Webster Central School District, Webster Heath & Education Network, and the Webster Police Department, that recognizes student’s positive efforts, experienced a gratifying school year during 2005-2006.  Six high school students were honored with the “yearly” Making a Difference award at the Webster Police 1000 Club Awards dinner on March 4th, 2006.  In addition, eight middle and elementary students were recognized at the June 8th school board meeting.   Each received a “Chief’s Letter” from Webster Police Chief Gerald L. Pickering.  Replicas of these letters are currently displayed at each student’s school that they attend where it will remain for this school year.

Numerous students were also recognized for the “monthly” Making a Difference award.  (Students selected for the monthly award are chosen by school staff and nomination forms are not utilized).  All “Making a Difference” students were recognized by each participating school in a variety of ways including an invitation to walk in the Memorial Day.

To continue with this successful program, two students from each participating Webster school, both public and private, will be selected through a review process conducted by school staff, community members, and police officers.  This year’s high school students will be honored at the Webster Police 1000 Club Awards Dinner on March 3rd, 2007.  Junior high and elementary students will be recognized at a “Making a Difference” ceremony later in the spring.
